Summary

An integrated lower vertex inspired by thing:16469 but derived from the original parts. Keeps the dimensions from the original MendelMax parts, but adds an access port for the hidden bolt.

Instructions

UDATE2: Per Tesadorn's request I have made a version that takes an extra set of bottom extrusion to raise the bot so it can accommodate a PSU with the standard y-rod mounts.

UPDATE: Per Pointedstick's request I have attached seperated STLs that do not have the anti warp slits. One is a mirror of the other, you will need two of each.

STL file has 2 mirrored parts and has been run through cloud.netfabb, you will need to print 2 copies. Remove the mouse ears and two small overhang supports. Enjoy.

hi rick,

my machine is realy well calibaited, so i printet the part. i measured the vertex and got 48mm distance, same with measuring with mini magics. i need the standard 50mm to fit my y-axis mounts which measures 30mm, so could you please upload a .scad file?

It's not done in scad, it's a Google Sketchup model. Download the SKP file to modify.

is there any reason, that you changed the distance of the frame-mount holes from 50mm to 48mm?

The holes in the model are 49mm appart because that is what I measured from a printed original and since 1mm does not seem to make a noticeable difference I have not corrected it. You should check your X/Y steps/permm in you firmware, sounds like an increase of 2% might be warranted.

These r awesome! Is there any chance you could make an extended version?

a version in which there would be three extrusions stacked high instead of two?? It would be cool as this would raise the unit up and give PLENTY of room to stash a power supply and electronics in the frame without using weird y-rod mounting..... I would be willing to paypal some beer money for the effort!!!!!!

Ill be posting a new lower vertex with feet that is MendelMax 1.5 compatible soon. The feet will lift the frame 24mm high(w/ felt pads from HomeDepot).

The mouse ears actually put the parts barely out of range on the UP! printer.

Wow, Im surprised it was even close. I attached the google sketchup source file, so you could always take the mouse ears out or print one at a time. To get the mirrored version, right click on the object and select [Flip Along-
&
gt;Group's Red]. :)

Warp prevention by breaking up those really long extrusions. I had the original "Lower Vertex Middle" part warp on me (using PLA mind you) on both a heated bed and an unheated blue tape bed.

Pretty awesome. Would you mind uploading a version without the anti-warp slits? And maybe also the individual pieces (i.e. not an STL with both on it).

Very nice looking. I would definitely use this if my frame weren't already constructed.
