FABOOL Laser Mini is an open-source, ready-to-assemble type of desktop laser cutter and engraver, which was developed by smartDIYs, a group of Japanese engineers.The machine excels in usability and expandability, which enables it to meet variety of needs.

It all began with developing a high-power 60W large laser cutter and engraver for our own a year and a half ago, we turned it into a smaller version of desktop laser cutter and engraver, as Smart Laser Mini. This time we are releasing the upgraded version as FABOOL Laser Mini, with improved usability, stylish design, and 1/4 of assembly time.

In June 2016, FABOOL Laser Mini, collected about $60 million , which was the highest amount ever in the history of major crowdfunding platforms in Japan as well as the second highest among laser cutter campaigns in the world.

    Extension of parts allows users to customize based on their needs. (e.g. Expanding the frame which leads to 1m*1m processing range, Replacing the laser head to one with can produce higher output). Because both hard and software are open source, it made possible to add User’s original functions.

The vector method can cut along the outer shapes also It can be created in SVG or DXF format.

Hi, is the firmware for the Laser Mini Shield open-source too?

Really love the clean minimalistic design. Can the 3.5W laser really engrave aluminium? Also the schematic does not appear to include a laser modulator. Will that have to be bought or built separately?

FABOOL Laser Mini cannot engrave aluminum, but if it is anodized it can do so by peeling the top coat, which is exactly the case for engraving iPhone.
There is another board included in the package. Everything you need comes in a package so you would not have to built or buy something separately.

I made some boards from PCBGOGO, China and I was amazed with the price and quality. They also have a good sales team.
You could try them when you have boards to make.

Hey good joob! is this open source like prusa?

Do you offer the high power laser options anywhere? Personally The 3.5W laser isnt strong enough for cutting the thicknesses of materials im interested in working work. Great looking product all the same though.

We do not offer anything more powerful than 3.5W laser for FABOOL Laser Mini, but we have a different machine, Smart Laser CO2, which is equipped with 40W laser. Please refer to the links below.

I didn't see the CO2 laser for sale on your website... only the mini and its accessories... how much would the CO2 be?
