Double Pinch Extruder idea

Yes, I'm aware the Lego is hardly appropriate :-P
I am thinking of using M8 studding for the worm gears, and hobbing some brass discs with my M8 tap held in my lathe to drive the pinch wheels, also hobbed with an M3 tap in the same way to grab the filament. I reckon that by using M8 stud I can just run through 608Z bearings in the chassis to take pretty much all the perpedicular load off the axles.
It'll be a while before I get this done though - I'm still building my McWire clone chassis!
Very cool, I did something like that a while ago, but instead of gearing I used two drive motors, works ever since.

So...by using two worm drives, the distances between the pinch wheels can be made closer together without effecting the drive mechanisim? Its neat, would love to see the design realised in something other than lego though. ;)
