Birdhouse
Description
A birdhouse that I designed over the course of a couple of hours. The entrance has a circular diameter of 1.5". I have no idea if this is actually practical for birds. I just wanted to relive my high school shop class experience.
Instructions
Lasercut .125" thick material of your choice and assemble with adhesive. The piece with drainage holes goes on bottom. There are two roof pieces with overhangs that face front and two side pieces.
The five sides have a specific layout/orientation. I recommend doing a practice assembly before gluing it together.
There is a hole for a half inch dowel.

I added a minor variant with two holes in the back for suction cups. Now you can attach it to your window. :-)

Like it. I'd use plywood for a more natural touch. The birds might like it a bit better in that case.

Looks good! You should probably note the thickness of the material you had in mind when you designed it, since the depth of the notches in your front and back piece should be the same as the thickness of the material. Make sense?

As fas as I know, certain species of birds needs specific entrance hole diameter. Depth of the house is very important also. You should include those little wooden steps inside the house to make them come out easier. Eg.: http://dom.gazeta.pl/ogrody/51... Birds feel more comfortable than and it's harder for predators to get into. (never install stick at the entrance!) The possibility of opening house during winter time to brush out old nest - with parasites that could spread to next year birds.
