Description

These files are a breakdown of the larger parts from the MakerBot Clock, Thing 8214 (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18214)

The large parts of the clock have been broken down into sizes appropriate for printing on a ToM. The smaller parts required to complete the clock will need to be sourced from the original clock page. Please note that I have not finished printing these parts so modifications may be necessary to make them work with the original clock parts. I have run these parts through NetFabb but there may still be a few issues. Let me know if you find anything that does not work.

Note: A hardware kit will be required to build the clock. The hardware kit is/was available from MakerBot as a limited edition. While the $50.00 might seem a bit steep for the parts, the kit includes several small bearings which add significantly to the price.

Instructions

The listed parts are broken down from the main Sketchup drawing for Thing:18214 to make them printable on a ToM. Once the parts are printed they will have to be glued together to create the larger assemblies needed to build the clock. The remainder of the parts necessary to complete the clock will have to be sourced from the original Thing page: thingiverse.com/thing:18214

I found a minor problem while I was printing

Front Frame 12-2 12-1.STL file has been fixed.

This is really useful, but I ended up modifying some of the front frame pieces to keep the original idea of using the face pieces to snap the face together and hold in place (avoiding the need to rely too much on glue). Some of them had been cut half way through a 'I' character, which meant the face pieces wouldn't hold them together.

Has anyone printed this yet?

I'm almost done the clock. I have printed all of the ToM modifications except the face numbers. I glued the pieces together by dipping the ends in acetone and laying them on aluminum foil so that parts align flat.

So far so good

maybe i'm missing it somewhere but there should be another middle frame part i see the middle frame long A
&
amp;B but no middle frame short

That's correct, the middle frame short was small enough to fit on the ToM platform so I didn't break it down. Since it is not available by itself I'll add it to this page in the next couple of days.

Thanks. I ordered the clock and do have a ToM.You make life easier.
