Merry-go-round mousetrap by Frozenlock Mar 1, 2010

Featured Thing!

Description

When the mouse turns the fence to get to the bait, the fence falls in a groove and locks in place.

Not tested, my Makerbot is out-of-order for now.

Have fun!

Already some upgrades? Talk about fast!

It could indeed be round, have a screw on lid and an entrance on the side. In fact it would be way more elegant this way. Perhaps in a future version, if this one proves promising once printed.

This is why I can't wait to have my Makerbot up and running!! Rahhhhhhh!

Be careful... like ssd said, the second mouse get the bait. You wouldn't want to attract every wildlife around! ;)

Brilliant design! I'm not concerned about the mouse going hungry, he's had days of bait to feed on in advance... D:

I'll be printing each, and testing each. If the mouse gets caught before testing is done on each, I'll just leave the next testee trap outside as I live in the country! Most effective mouse-getter wins! I expect my mouse will only settle for the finest trap though, precluding the need for these measures.

Thanks Frozenlock!

Instructions

Print the box, the fence and the top.

Print some feet if you don't have anything to make a space between the box and the ground.

Place a bait where the star is.

Carefully place the fence so that when the mouse is almost at the bait, it falls and locks in place.

There should be plenty of space between the interlocking pieces, so don't worry if your printer isn't fine tuned. (But it also means you might want to tape the top on the box, just to be sure.)

Coool design. seems this could be round with a screw on lid.? and the hole entrance could be on the side.

Sooo. is Cathal printing all of these...? and will the same mouse be testing them all to determine which is most successful.? (the merry-go-round could actually work)

I like this, it could even be on the right track, but a little ways to go yet...

Very clever! I hadn't considered this sort of design. It's kind of sad for the mouse though, that he doesn't get a tasty treat to nibble on while he's in captivity. Hopefully his captor will let him out relatively soon after his incarceration.

So if I understand how this works, only the second mouse gets the cheese.
