Z driven pulley with rims

Z driven pulley with rims by MBC Mar 19, 2010

Description

This part is a combination of “z-driven-pulley_2off” and “z-driven-pulley_rim_4off.”  It is a z driven pulley with rims.

Instead of printing 6 parts (2 pulleys & 4 rims) just print two z driven rimed pulleys.

The “2C” version of this part has a gear-toothed “C” (as in MBC) engraved in the top and bottom faces of the part.

Congratulations, you just reduced my mendel production file size by 1 plate! Thanks dude!

I'm continually amazed at the quality of parts on here. At first glance I was sure this was from a commercial printer. Good work!

Anyone have a mendel to try this out on?

Because it would have had huge overhangs. You found a way around that problem, though.

Is there anyway you can make it so that the rims keep spinning?

MBC on Mar 20, 2010 said:

Heh spinners :-D didn't pick up on that :-[

Seriously though, does anybody know why the RRRF felt the need to make this pulley three seporate parts? The only functional difference between this part and the official RepRap part is that the rims on the RepRap part can move independently (like spinners on cars)

I don't think so. I have yet to discover the usefulness of that feature, which is why I created this part. But I haven't assembeled my Mendel yet either. So maybe I am missing something. Am I?

Doesn't that need support material?

MBC on Mar 19, 2010 said:

No support material needed. Like the MakerBot idler pulleys the upper rim has a 45 degree slant.
