Make #1 - Bauble with a Twist
by faberdasher, published
Summary
This isn't your usual kind of bauble. Oh no! This one not only looks amazing, but also unscrews to allow you to place a gift inside. Clever and Christmassy!
Faberdashery are releasing daily, seasonal designs for you to print and enjoy. Join in the fun with our 25 Days of Making! This is Make #1 of 25.
Instructions
Slice with 2 shells (/perimeters) and zero infill. At coarse resolution (0.3mm), you will find prints have extra shimmer (and print quicker!).
Created in stunning Faberdashery Space Marine PLA^.
Object requires ~20g of material (~4m of 3mm / ~7m of 1.75mm filament).
Finish by adding a treat, screwing the two halves together and threading some decorative twine.

Space Marine looks even better in reality -- the camera doesn't pick up its gleam somehow. I have a vase printed in Space Marine and the first thing people pick up on when seeing it for the first time is the look of the plastic (and these are people who aren't into 3D printing).
They also do a "Mercury Red" which has similar characteristics.
Hi Steve,
Thanks - we love this one! The colour is called Space Marine (www.faberdashery.co.uk/products-page/print-materials/space-marine/).
Thanks! Really happy to see people making and enjoying these designs :)
I keep finding some kind of flaw in the STL of the top (female) half, beginning at about 27.3 mm up in Z, ending near 28.6. It seems to have something to do with the threads. KISSlicer leaves large open gaps in the gcode there. Which is a drag, because this is an awesome design. Any tips?
Hi Cosmoose. We triple check our STL's for possible errors... and all looks good. Tested slicing with Slic3r, Cura and MakerWare; is it a KISSlicer error?
