Description

This is a macro lens for the iPhone 4 based upon shapeways.com/model/328790/. I wanted to take this concept and optimize it for printing on my MakerGear Mosaic 3D printer (or any RepRap based printer). I also added a cutout for the iPhone's LED flash.

Instructions

You will need the following lens to complete this adapter.
surplusshed.com/, SKU: L4471, Lens: PCX, Dia: 12, Focal: 51 (measurements in mm).
You can't use the site's search to find this part, but you can use the QuickCart feature in the left navigation to locate this lens. You can also find it using the lens finder and the above dimensions.

Once you have printed the part, insert the lens from the inside. I affixed the lens from the inside of the adapter by applying a couple of drops of superglue with a toothpick. My wife who does a fair bit of optical engineering sugget using optical epoxy.

Slide the macro lens onto your iphone4 (I assume this will work on the 4S as well) and take some pictures. I've attached one example of my own.

If you want to adjust the model with OpenSCAD, you will need the following libraries:

be careful using super glue with lenses because the fumes can cloud the lense
