[WIP] X-Carriage by ziplock Mar 11, 2010

Description

This is an X-Axis carriage for my attempt at the Gada Intermediate Prize (for RepRap). The carriage mounts to four bearing plates (which each hold three bearings), and thus moves along the X-Axis. This is a work in project; as you can tell, only the carriage exists, not the bearing plates, nor the other axis/related drive systems. This is purely experimental, also, as I don't have a 3D printer to print it on (yet; getting Mendel together has been tough!), so this is not known to print successfully.

The two holes are M4 diameter. They are used for mounting an extruder/head. The two columns/hole in the middle are quite obviously where the extruder supported/mounted through.

Awesome - this is the right direction.. once the main parts start to be printed it will be easier to create these.

Instructions

Once the bearing plates are up, assembly should be relatively straight forward.

Instructions for mounting the bearings themselves will be on that page.

* Step 1- Print all necessary parts.
* Step 2- Prep-fit parts to ensure they snugly go together; if they don't, sand/file gently until a snug fit is reached)
* Step 3- Apply desired gluing agent to pins on the bearing plate. This agent can be acetone, super-glue, epoxy, etc...
* Step 4- LIGHTLY coat the four teardrop holes in the carriage with desired gluing agent
* Step 5- Press together, until parts are flush.
* Step 6- Let set until glue is dry.
Done! You now have an X-Carriage!
