See http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... for a crowned pulley -- Engineers have solved this problem centuries ago without flanges.
I'll try it, but the old ones didn't work for me at all. They looked great once on the bearing in your hand, but as soon as there was any belt tension at all they split apart and fell off, making me wonder why I wasn't just using fender washers (which I eventually did for the Prusa IT2 I was making at the time).
I finally got T2.5 pulleys and belts on the Prusa 2. It's working well in test prints up to 120 mm/s and I haven't even had a chance to glue them together.
Hmm. I haven't got my electronics and all the motors yet for this Prusa so I haven't tested it yet. I'll let you know how it works out hopefully by the end of the week. The two parts need to be glued together well. I plan to use acetone: snap the two pieces together then let acetone seep between the parts. The probme with fender washers is they don't move. So there's additional friction when the belt runs into it.

The crown might be adequate when you just want to spin it but I would expect that movement of the belt in the pulley could result in slight changes in position which is important in a 3D printer.
