Description

Chess set transforming into a battle bot and backwards..

Instead of this thing you migt be interested in CHE3PO thingiverse.com/thing:22028

Instructions

instructions are
Pretty much the same as for original thing..
The difference is that here is one only kind of pawn and that arm could be assembled in different ways..

For one color set you need to print:
one king and one queen,
three pairs of bishops, knights and rooks,
and eight pawns..

I've added a helmet to the bot.. it's not a chess figure, but it makes the bot complete

Hi Artcad, My son loves your gyro ball and we both love CheBOT.

It's a mark of the Maker community that two great craftsman artists like Artcad and Cymon can encourage each other to greater heights. Just wondering what printer you use to get the shiny finish shown in your photos?

I see a photo on Cymon's page https://tinkercad.com/things/0...
that s
hows a much more raw print. I'm new to 3D printing so I'd like to know if the finish difference is among printers or do you have to sand and buff after?

Thanks for the inspiration.

Thank you for kind words :)

I do have an access to stratasys dimension elite printer, and yes, this machine provides better surface finish than most of printers in possesion of Thingiverse users. Elite is good, but I'm thinking about bying a makerbot or another open source printer. Stratasys cartridges are very costly, and t
hey are DMR protected..

You need a head the flips up out of the body like the old transformers.

:-D yeah, there is a room for improvements in the head area.. But firstly I will try to work on making hinges more versatile and universal.. The Idea is to make a chess set with which one could assemble few different bots..

On the photo beta version of CheBOT is posing with its ancestor Action #CHESS. The beta was printable and assembleable, but crown-like hinges appeared to be too tight.. Uploaded STLs include addition tolerance.. Hopefully it will assemble just fine
