Decorating with the EggLathe: http://how2today.wordpress.com/2013/03/29/decorating-with-the-egglathe/
This is loosely based on the world famous Egg-Bot from Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories.
The .cst file is generated by Cut Studio. This is the software we use to send vectors to the laser cutter. It might be something you can open with Inkscape. What we do is create the file in Open Office, adjust the sizes and arrangement of the parts, export it as a .jpg, then import it to Cut Studio to extract the cut lines.

Cut the sides and ends.
Use machine screws, washers and nuts to hold them together.
Add a motor and spindle.
Adjust the motor and spindle so it holds the egg well.
Put your egg in place.
Turn on the motor.
Draw on the egg with a pen/pencil/paintbrush.
