Description

A friend had been wanting a Grenade. I had seen a few designs already, and really liked some, but wanted to add some additional functionality.

Not to completely reinvent the wheel, I incorporated a few of those designs and made the thing modular.

After many Boolean operations, and due to poor planning, I accidentally created a locking feature with a ridge on the opening of the grenade body.

I got griped at for taking this into a public place.. I really didn't consider that either..

Instructions

I'm a bit paranoid about overhangs and bridges, so I actually rotated the top 180 before printing.

Just added the file top_tall_safe_fixed It has been rotated and scaled properly. The prior version was under size by a factor of 10...

The body needs no modification before printing.

One of thingiverse.com/thing:10718 will need to be printed and attached using a ~4x10+ screw. There are additional instructions for spring loading and a pin for that thing... It will also have the aperture logo on the back, which may or may not be desirable (one reason for modularity...)

Hi can you share the design files?

Finally uploaded a logo-free handle for the combustible lemon thing.

I'm printing the bottom right now and it looks like there is a strange layer problem where part of the bottom prints slightly higher than than the other half. Doesn't look like it will affect the overall model though.

Just finished printing the "top tall safe fixed" and it screws in pretty loose I may try it again scaled up a little for more snug fit.

I must be missing something simple on the top tall safe file. When I load it, it is way to small and I am playing with ratio's to try and find a happy spot. Can you give me a tip for what size to go with? Thanks for a great model!

Oops, I must not have saved the file in repG.. Scale it up by 10 and that should be perfect.

I have something set wrong in Maya so that it exports at 1/10th the scale. When I get home I'll upload a fixed version as well..

Where do you think you could safely take one of there?

That does present an interesting problem. It may be doomed only to be displayed on a shelf somewhere..

Maybe the nuclear green is like the orange tip on a toy gun? Hrm...

Nice!

I can upload a version of the grenade handle without the logo. I had never considered using my part in a non-lemon capacity ;)

LOL That would be great! This makes me wonder about the usefulness of uploading base parts or quad poly parts for additional customization/derivation..
