When I started working on these the references I found didn't clearly indicate weather they were supposed to be in or out, especially since most of them the face is a 2D image.

The first thing I made was the soldier and perhaps solely due to its size, the face looked funky due to the lack of lines indicating the space between the teeth.

I may try to do one of these later on with the teeth set in instead of out as its larger size might make it work, but overall I'm trying to think of a general better solution to both problems. (I had considered making them minor protrusions over the surface and shaped more like real teeth, but wit
h the diy printers there wasn't much shape visible when it printed them out.)
