Description
I really liked the design of randyy's spool thingiverse.com/thing:8317. I'm sure the spool works well attached to the clip, but I didn't want to use one of those. I already had a spool holder that holds the spool via a rod, and when I tried using this spool on it, it leaned over to the side.
All I did was to add a simple tube that protrudes from the central axle, this gives it the support it needs to remain upright when held by a simple rod.

Instructions
Print the modified hub, then you'll also want to download the original spool arms from thingiverse.com/thing:8317.
Also, this isn't part of my derivative, but my picture also shows me using the adjustable clips from thingiverse.com/thing:16357 by smartroad. I do recommend these as it makes the spool much easier to use when you constantly switch filament colors like I do.

Nice derivative addon. Thanks for the other augmentation recomendations as well.
I noticed you feed your filament through a tube your extruder. Do you secure the other end to the extruder carrriage?

No I don't. Usually as it prints, the tube gets pulled until it touches the extruder block. I like it that way because I can purposely push the filament through to create a gap between the extruder block and the straw, that way I can visually see if the filament is feeding or if it has jammed.

Thanks very much! Were did you get the arms holding the spool from? Are they printed? I'd like to have them, too.. :)
