Description

This is a printed 4 cylinder 12V motor.
See: youtu.be/xJX4PsNLRdk
Based on the principle of a solenoid motor.

I'm busy with cleaning up all the files and fixing a manual. (see: help.odp)
For this moment it is in a prototype phase.
Suggestions and questions are very welcome.

I call for a Star motor with solenoids!

This is great! Does it have enough torque to run something like these?

How well would it work as a stepper motor?

Thx,

For this moment it is not designed to give any torque, it's just to examine possibilities of 3D printing.

I'm sure it can evolve to something what can give enough torque, just not now.

At this moment someone dropped it and is is broken in a bad way.

I'll have to start over, but because it parametric design i can easily improve some parts.

It's not usable as a stepper motor, unfortunatly.

Well Done!

Awsome stuff. This is a great idea that should find its way into a number of techno art pieces. What did you print it on? The print quality looks amazing. Is that standard LEGO that you have used as a base?

Thx, technical art, education, fun, it's multi functional :)

The quality credits go to my Ultimaker.

Everything was sliced in Netfabb but now i'm using Cura for a few days and it looks better already.

The Duplo I used as a base is borrowed from my kids, it's perfect for prototyping.

That is so cool. Tell us more on how to do the electronics so we can learn about this. And very nice engineering on the drawings. People will learn from this and build it for years. What a great class building this. You are part of the solution on this planet.

Thx, it's good to see i'm not the only one with enthusiasm for this kind of projects.

My next move on this thing is: describe the electronics in the help file.

It will be updated.

I like this a lot! I think that this would go great with the 5 cyl radial motor I saw here recently. Turn that non-functional radial into a fully funtional electric radial motor!

Caster, you are right, at the end this thing must evolve to something like that.

But V8 / V12 is also interesting.

I still doubt what should be a good next challenge.
