Description

When doing retraction with the Ultimaker the quick connect on the extruder allows quite a bit of play.

This shim fits on the quick connect and essentially eliminates this play.

This thing was created using the Object Oriented Mechanics Library (OOML). See iearobotics.com/oomlwiki/doku.php?id=start for details.

Instructions

Print shim.
Pull the bowden tube up from the extruder until a space is formed between the pieces of the quick connect.
Insert the clip around the inner piece of the quick connect (see picture). This prevents it from pulling back down into the outer piece during retraction.

If you later want to remove the bowden from the quick connect you must first remove the shim.

Brilliant!

Love it! I did this a while back with some plastic shim stock. This is 'key' to getting retraction working.

Great Job!
