Instructions

UPDATE I uploaded an obj file just to see if a different file format will helps those having issues.

I remixed with Cheetah3D, and printer on a MakerBot Replicator 2, with MakerWare. I used the STANDARD setting with defaults. I've printed several times with no issues.

before forming the sd slots my printer, m3d is just going back and forth in short strokes ejecting filament in loopy patterns insde the octopus, is that a problem?

here is a repaired .STL for this:

If SD card doesnt fit, use XY-size-compensation parameter of your slicing software. clean slots carefully from blobs.

Cute SD Octopus Repaired

Really like the design. However, printed with Dremel, the slots are not big enough for the cards... :(
Will try to file them down to see if they can fit.

I have a Dremel printer as well and when I bring it in to slice a get a warning that not all surfaces are closed, and the tentacle with the mini-sd fails to print properly. how did you solve that problem?
appreciate any help you can give me, I'd really like to print this.

I used Meshmixer to fix the slice problem.

Thanks for the tip! Now I'll be able to fix other prints I had problems with.

Nice design :-)

Personally I have no problems with slicer and this... I would have liked an usb variant ;-)

this does not work at all

Its worked for hundreds... maybe its your setup

I have tried to modify a Cute Octopus model with OpenSCAD, but I have been unable to export the STL file.
I import the CuteOcto.stl difference out the area I want to remove.
It copies file and generates the model, but when I export to an STL file the file is empty.
What did you uses for your modifications?

I am using Cheetah3D on a Mac. Seems to work well for my needs. I'm not good enough to use what you are using!!

Printed great on the Replicator 2! No flaws or errors ...

Really wanted to print this but it gets messed up in Repetier

Unfortunately, I don't have that software, and my resources (and knowledge) are limited to MakerBot Rep2, MakerWare and Cheetah3D. It seems two comments have been made in regards to Repetier. I'm happy to upload the files in other formats if you can tell me what your software supports.

gcode works fine

Anyone else have issues with the "hi" tentacle not slicing correctly? Mine skipped a huge chunk and then tried to print on thin air later.

Same here, the "hi" tentacle doesn't Slic3r correctly.

Looks great, but my Repetier will not open. Just locks up!! :-(

Use netfab to fix it.

I created a remix with the corrected Netfab files...for those who cares :)
