Description

An afternoon-designed and printed tricopter, designed primarily for Dynam KA22-15M motors (though may fit others, or perhaps many more if you're not afraid of using a drill), a 'standard' 20x40mm servo and a 624 bearing for holding the tail motor (you RepRap builders should have a few of these left :-) )

Shown here mostly assembled, with 10x4.7 propellers attached.

Instructions

Print out one each of the body, tail arm, tail assembly bracket, tail motor bracket base and tail motor bracket top, and two of the front arms. Attach the arms to the body by slotting them in and driving in M4 screws through the holes provided. Attach the servo and bearing to the tail motor bracket by clamping them in; attach this assembly to the tail assembly bracket, and attach this in turn to the tail arm by driving in some M4 screws in the holes provided.

Note that the tail motor bracket and -top might be hard to print on some printers. I had to make use of Slic3r with support material turned on - this makes these parts come out very well, at the expense of having to do a bit more cleaning.

TODO: Landing gear, and electronics mounting plate! :)

I would love to see a movie of this beauty in action!

Can you post the CAD files? I am very interested in printing this and making some design contributions for electronics mounting. TY!

What RC controller and board are you using to drive the motors?

oh yes, I watch, I make frame for tricopter if you want I send stl files.
I wait for you. many thanks. Andrea.

first of all thank you for having realized this, I have tried to print tricopter, eseere perfeetto out, after I asked, but it can fly!? I put on the board, motors and esc, and flew! be very nice .... many thanks Andrea.

Thanks for the comment! Glad it worked for you :) I've actually made a few newer designs too which use some aluminium tubing along with printed plastic parts - if you're interested I can post them too :)
