Description

I loved Alex English's Cheap DSLR Table Dolly, but wanted to have a longer, single channel on the sled.

Instructions

Follow the instructions on the original thing, but skip the 2x sled parts in favor of one of these.

I have an (AWFUL) video made while using this. You can find it here:

Build notes:
I printed this on my Replicator at 80% infill with 2 shells in ReplicatorG, and it came out so rigid and tough that I'd trust any camera on it.

My replicator is completely enclosed, so I didn't have any warping, but you might if you're not careful! If you want to enclose your Replicator, take a look at the fantastic: thingiverse.com/thing:23386. If you want your wide / large Replicator builds to come out well, take a gander at: thingiverse.com/thing:23257.

Great derivative. This is the direction I'd have gone if I wasn't having to print to a smaller bed.

One thing I noticed in your picture, the order of parts...

When storing the unit, I keep the parts arranged as pictured so none of the parts get lost. When using it, the big nut sitting right under the camera goes under the sled. The idea being that the camera sits directly on the sled and the
nut screws up from underneath to tighten it down. Since most cameras can only accommodate a little bit of the bolt, you screw the bolt into the camera as far as it will go, then tighten the nut to secure it.

I'll make a note of this on my thing as well, I'm not sure how I overlooked mentioning tha
t.

That should reduce the wobble in your shot.

And that explains it! I'll make that change - unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait until I print another to update my photos. I have to give this one away tonight.

Nice. This was on my to-do list, and now I have no excuse. :)

I was able to locate the correct skateboard in moments at KMart. I bought the black version, but the red one from Alex's photos was there as well.

The trucks are really the important part. I'm going to try larger wheels - rollerblade probably - and better bearings for my next print. I'll update the photos and include part numbers when I do.
