Description

Based on Roboduck's Portal Gun ( thingiverse.com/thing:8809 ), this is a full scale portal gun sliced into pieces which will fit into a 130x130x130mm build volume. On most of the pieces I included pegs and sockets to help align the assembly.

I did this as a prop for a costume. It's not perfect, because I didn't have time to clean up all the parts or reprint ones which have holes or other imperfections.

This model requires a crazy amount of filament, and a solid week of printing.

Instructions

You're not going to be insane enough to print this monster. But here's what I did: Print all the parts. Assemble and glue. Paint with an ABS + acetone mixture to give a more uniform surface and more strength.

The "wires" are made of black quarter-inch tube, available at any hardware store.

Print this monster? I made the mistake of showing my kid now he won't shut up about it... I gotta buy some filament!

This is Bad-ass! I love it! I have an Up Plus / Afinia h-series 3D printer and I love that it has been cut to fit (for the most part)

How did you do the clear tube around the orange? I don't have my printer yet, but when I get it, this is my first print!

Or did you just not put anything in there?

Props. Some of us see "weeklong print" and think "excellent!"

And another thing. (I feel I am being a bother.) I can't find a "Portal_Gun_White_Parts_Slice_3". Did it not get uploaded?

Okay, wow, you're really not going to try to print this monster?

I added the missing file and an archive. Be warned that this is probably 1-2kg of plastic (I didn't weigh the finished model), and you will of course have to make allowances for printing mistakes etc. This is a good time to go shopping for that cheap supplier of bulk filament.

Also, if you use th
e 1/4" tube for the cables like I did, you will need to drill holes for both ends of the tube. If I'd had time I would have made them in the model, but I didn't.

Also please, what is the scale factor that you used to get from 8809 to yours? Or is it 1:1?

It is 1:1.

I love you so much..... (I second the ZIP file suggestion)

Most Awesome 'Toy' Yet!

Very nice. What was this designed in? What is your build cube size? Would you ca advers to allowing mods??

BTW, how much does the finished gun weigh?

Very awesome!

Do you mind uploading a ZIP?

Wow. Just wow. I salute your dedication to a weeklong print!
