I hope they have a better plan than a zip tie to hold the motor in place. The torque and eventually linear force required to move the mass of a person on a skateboard is far more than the friction force available of the ziptie. Equal and opposite forces...force balance..etc etc? motor will just spin until it wraps up the wires enough to tug them loose. The idea is cool, but a proper mount is needed for a motor. Goodluck, i look forward to seeing revisions to this.

Also the steering can be solved by allowing the truck to operate as normal, but use a belt drive with tensioner. While slightly more complicated the skateboard would totally be rideable.

First sight, cool! Second sight. Euhm this won't steer as the truck is locked :(. Third sight euhm forget ollies. Fourth sight euhm the cogg driving the wheel does not have bearings.

Final verdict: could have been cool but this won't work ;). You can't steer and if you can actually ride, friction will soon heat up and misalign the cogg. Or your 7 km/h is not correct and it's more like 0.7 km/h ;)

Where does the motor come from? How fast is the skate?
