The womens sign was hard for me to get right. I didn't want a dress and I wanted to keep the classic front profile outline. I went with down pigtails because that implies functionality, while pigtails on top of the head has lots of other connotations that would have been to similar to the dress. Also, I know a lot of guy makers who have pony tails. A kilt and a pony tail might have worked for the mens sign.
