Description

Here are full size frog and cat figures digitized with 123D Catch.

The frog is made of polished wood and is a souvenir of the 2012 San Diego County Fair. It was manufactured in Mexico. The cat was made in Wales.

Instructions

The models are shiny and reflective which can cause difficulties for 123D Catch. Before photographs were taken the frog and cat were dusted with fine particles. As a result there is some surface roughness in the high resolution stl files. The orginal surface can be restored with MeshLab using LaPlacian smoothing.

The prints were done on a Replicator with 3 shells and 5 percent infill.

made the cats, very nice! Thanks for introducing me to 123d catch too! any tips for getting results like yours?

I've been doing some 123D Catch work as well. I have a wooden (shiny) bear I've been trying to scan without luck. What type of "fine particles" are you dusting with? I didn't even think to try that. Looking forward to giving it another try.

Get a powder bronzing base women's makeup. You can find a nice brush dispenser. Also buy a foot powder spray on at local drug store. It is white and sticks right on and removes the shine. This technique also works well for laser and white light scanners

Pretty faithful reproduction. I've done some 123D stuff too - results can vary :) Your's look great
