Summary

Feedback from the adventurous folks that have attempted my GT2 belt upgrades for the Printrbot Simple shows that the belt ends are not the most friendly critters. I too have struggled getting the belt to wedge in correctly at times, and don't care for cutting the belt every time I made an upgrade. Therefore, I put together this little wedge that will lock the belt without the need to fold or cut. Hopefully this will help make belt installs easier, and allow extra belt length to be kept for future upgrades.

Simply interlace the belt teeth with the notches of the wedge, and insert into the V-slot of the belt tension blocks or belt ends.

Enjoy.

2014-03-25: Added the first revision of the part "GT2BeltWedgeNo1.stl" which is shown in the pictures. I felt this one was a little too flimsy, so I beefed it up to the "GT2BetlWedge.stl"

There are 2 required parts for this wedge, 1 is available... Where is the other? The adjustable wedge seat.

"GT2 Belt Wedge" Tensioner

You come up with the best ideas to fix the little problems :) love it!

i love the idea but the wedge the prints out looks different than the one in your pictures. it is taller and does not fit between the two screws. the one in your picture looks like it comes out to a nice point.

The picture was from the 1st attempt. I felt this one was a little too flimsy where it hooks around the belt so I beefed it up before publishing. There are notches on the top and bottom for the screw heads, but if they are not clearing you can try the early version. It is uploaded as "GT2BeltWedgeNo1.stl"

I have printed the original. It is a little flimsier but it works really well. Thanks for sharing it. I couldn't get the thicker one to work but your first one works perfectly.

Appreciate it :D You seriously have the best modifications for the printrbot simple. They are very well detailed and your response to questions is unparalleled. Thanks mate for being awesome.

these are much easier to deal with, thanks!
