Description

This is my version of a V-tail copter. Im useing 1000 KV Motors and 12 amp ESC's as well as the Crius Multi Wii SE control board. This thing flys very well. I built a few Quad X copters, but it is very easy to lose orintation with then because they look the same from all angles.
Not this baby, I fly it like an airplane.
The STL's Are for a Prusa Mendel, with a 200mm x200mm build platform. some of the pieces have to be positioned corner to corner.
As you can see in the picture with my 100lb dog, this is a big copter 420mm front to back. And 450 across the arms.

Instructions

Here is a video of it flying. Keep in mind, this is my first flight.

by far one of the best v tails I've seen. Awesome job!!!

Tried to print the tail_body stl yesterday and ended very thick piece of plastic with the bottom pattern in it, no sides just a solid lump. Netfabb says the part has errors but a repair doesn't work.

I use replicator 35 and it prints fine.

How do you program the flight control board for this setup?

If you are useing the cruis multiwii SE, make sure you uncomment the V tail selection in Arduino. There are a lot of videos on the net to help set up you board. I'm not very good at explaining things like this. but I will try to answer any thing that you get stumped on.

Hi,
Did you base your model on my VTail..?

Yours didn't inspire me. By the way I really like the looks of your frame.

It did help inspire me. Your quad frame is very cool by the way.

I really want to build this but have never done a copter before.  I'm very good with electronics but have no idea what I need as far as Transmitter, Reciever, Controller, etc.  Can  anyone point me to some place that can explain what I need? I'm printing the parts and ordering flight controller and motors, etc.  Thanks for the help!!

I've ordered all the pieces and I'm working on printing the parts. I'm having to redesign some of the parts because my print bed is too small. I'll post my modified stl's once I make sure they work.

I have a question: How do you attach the different pieces?

I am buying everything for this while it prints, what size bolts did you use?

Hey there, very nice build. Do you have a list of all your purchased parts and a build guide by chance? My kids are very interested in making one of these!

This is awesome! (printing as I type!).

can you share what props you use and possibly a link?

Any chance of a few close ups of your wiring job?

Thanks!

How does the V-tail design affect maneuverability and flight time?

It is my opinion. The Vtail fly is better than a normal X copter. For 1 thing you can't tell which is the front and which is the back. Also when you turn on the z axis you're doing it with the back of the copter not all 4 Therefore it turns more like a normal helicopter.

very awesome!

podrias por favor publicar que motores en si usaste?

cual es el tama
ño de los motores?
donde puedo comprarlos..

se podra usar un ardupilot para el control?

can anyone translate?

This looks really cool! What does it cost to buy the components to build one of these? I have zero experience with RC.

Motors =$45

ESC =$45

Crius multi wii SE = $50

Props = $5

Misc Silicone Wire = $5

ABS Plastic =$15

Total = $165 or so not including Transmitter
&
amp; Reciever or Battery

2200ma Lipo battery $9

Please post ANY of the source! G-code is machine specific. I have never been a fan on quads, but this ROCKS!!!!

Being a bit of a Terminator freak, the first thing I thought when I saw this was an Aerial Hunter Killer... When I find some time, I think I may look into re-skinning the Scorpion just a little bit.

Do it please!!!!!.. (are ya done yet?)

very nice !

it remind me some aircraft of Command
&
amp; Conquer 3 :)

This is so cool! I'm going to have to print one and strip the electronics off of my old quadcopter for it.

Same here!

=-O How could you? Now on top of all my other projects I *MUST* BUILD ONE.

Seriously though, that's the coolest quad copter I have ever seen.
