You can add the derivative tag by editing your thing and adding the numbers for the Things this was derived from to the "Want to make this Thing a derivative of another thing?" field all the way at the bottom. That way you credit the authors of your Thing's predecessors, and your own Thing will be linked from their pages. Plus, you'll be added to the New Derivatives timeline for more exposure. :-D
