An experimental piece for when I get a MakerBot or other 3D printer. I wanted something that would need support material to properly build, as both artistic and mechanical designs could benefit from a future MakerBot with the capability to build arbitrary shapes (within limits of resolution, of course). This would also need support for use of multiple materials at the same time, opening up even more possibilities. Made in Blender.
This would be made from a single material, so as long as your printer uses support material of some kind there probably wouldn't be any issues.
I tried to design this without self intersection of the mesh, but you should check that before you try to print.
