Description
Used these to mount a beach umbrella in my boat. As designed they fit a 7/16" diameter shaft.
Instructions
Printed at 100% fill on a MakerBot Replicator. I am sure there is something at the hardware store that would have worked but I wanted to try a "thing" project from start to finish. I used tapered screws and got some cracking. I think a round head screw would have worked better.

Looks strong, but ya, a different screw, and maybe a flat washer.
Yes - I think I will reprint these and go with your recommendation. I just got too impatient to try them and went with the closest screw I had on hand.
