Not sure about this duct as I have long moved on to thingiverse.com/thing:61407. This duct is better because you can see the hot end as it deposits filament. This duct clears about 4mm above nozzle tip.
Looks good! I have a different fan duct right now but am looking to replace it since it sits so close to the heated bed, it runs into the small binder clips holding the glass on, so I need to reduce the printable area by quite a bit. How high does this sit up? I have my J-head mounted to my x-carriage via an aluminum plate.

This fan duct works with AlephObjects Supa-Flat X-Carriage thingiverse.com/thing:10646 The bearing holders shown are: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:15205, the last one on the download list. SDP_bearing_mount_for_y_axis__on_side_with_square_ends_and_fixed_holes_by_Simon.stl file.

Note: the fan mount is also the belt clamps. 08/24/12 - added duct for jhead and changed mount holes to 18mm spacing. 08/26/12 - added netfabbed repaired STL file.

Fan Duct V3 for PLA
For some reason Skeinforge adds solid sections to the print. Was able to successfully print the part using Slic3r. Happy camper and thanks for the help.

I've tried the fan duct v2 and the jhead files and get the same results with both. The slicer (skeinforge) makes them solid from layers 54-102 and 125-147. I've tried redownloading them with the same results each time.

I also tried repairing with netfabb with no luck. As I have never used that program before perhaps I'm not doing something right. Would like to use your design as I like it the best (not sure how it will work with budaschnozzle but want to give it a shot).

BTW, the first STL listed has an oval hole and works with a Budasnozzle.

Hi

I've tried printing your fan duct v2 file but I'm getting multiple solid layers. The first is around layer 55 and running through the skeinlayer it looks like there are several more solid layers. Is this something in my settings or a file issue?

Sorry to hear about your problems.

I'm using Slic3r 0.9.1 with .25 layers and .4 infill.

You mention skeinlayer. Part of Skeinforge?

If so, try Slic3r. Also run the STL through Netfabb and repair.

Two questions: What slicing software did you use, and what settings for infill and perimeters were used?

I can't get past the single wall portion that is past the fan mount on the housing.

I uploaded a Netfabb repaired STL.
Actually the alibre files aren't opening for me for some reason. Can you export STP?
I downloaded the Alibre file and it opened without issue.

Maybe someone else can convert the file to STP and message me @verohomie

I verified that Alibre PE doesn't export to STP.

Hopefully others will be able to open the file and we will know how to proceed.

I will download and verify if the file is corrupt.

Thank you for designing this in Alibre. I've wanting to make a duct like this for my own printer, and the AD PRT will make it a lot easier.
