Our real matching wedding bands. Square outside, circle inside. Perfect fit around our ring fingers. There is also an aesthetic indent running along the middle of the ring. The "hers" band is thinner and more rounded for a delicate look.
His: (in) 0.827w x 0.197d x 0.827h
(cm) 2.1w x 0.5d x 2.1h
Hers: (in) 0.738 w x 0.118 d x 0.738 h
(cm) 1.874 w x 0.3 d x 1.874 h
It all started in SolidWorks. It was prototyped using a Makerbot Replicator 2 in pla to check the sizes (about 20 minutes for 2 rings). Then we sent the files to Shapeways and printed with their new premium silver option (~$50 each). We'll keep iterating and improving the design through the years and experiment with different material options as they become available.
Collaborative project with http://www.thingiverse.com/Benjaminjaninja who shared his design and Solidworks expertise.
Files created using SolidWorks. Original design files and stl files available for download. Customize it, print it out, engrave it, wear it, love it.
Change the inner diameters of the ring noting that the wall edge isn't too thin. You can also play with the band thickness.
It is currently a ring size 4.75mm for "hers" and options of 7.75mm, 8mm, and 8.25mm for "his".
