Description

Version 3 is an alternative to the TrinityLabs micro-extruder body. This version has integrated bearing to appose idler tension. Use of the external bearing is no longer needed. The body is stronger and has M3 nut slots that don't penetrate the entire body. Also, this body has a snap-in slot for a J-Head hot end which eliminates the aluminum slot plate. The snap-in idea was derived from scottmayson. This body is designed for the eMinebea PG35L-048-USC0 motor.

MendelMax 1.5+ kits and printed parts are available for purchase at ultibots.com.

Alibre PE source files included.

Instructions

The idler requires M3-40 bolts and use M4-12 bolts to secure to x-carriage.
Otherwise TrinityLabs vitamins are OK.
You will need to remove and drill out the support layers on the idler and body.

This extruder works well with AlephObjects Supa-Flat X-Carriage

is this motor powerful enough to push a 3mm filament through a 0.35mm nozzle?? also what motor driver are you using ? a pololu or something else?

ekaggrat -
Sure, I have been pushing 3mm ABS through .35mm and .5mm nozzles for months. I am using Pololu drivers on RAMPS1.4. Quite happy with this configuration. The biggest issue is sourcing PG35L motors.

Thanks Brad. The extruder was easy to print and assemble. I only had to adjust my nozzle height by half a layer, compared to the TL micro extruder with the aluminum J-head mounting plate. I am using the 30mm version.

Hello

I like your design.
Any chance you could upload a file that I can work a bit on in Sketchup 8?
I tried the STL, but i only get triangles.

Regards
Terje

Alibre PE only exports STL files.

Sorry - Brad

Ultibots ,

Are people using this with 1.75mm too? I tried both ABS and PLA....it will go for a bit but then gets pulled back into the MK7. I think the guide holes (made for 3mm) are just too large, allowing the filament to bend.

I am glad you printed and tried this part. The guide hole as designed is set at 3.5mm. I am unaware of anyone using it with 1.75 filament. I can easily upload a version with a 2.0mm or 2.25mm guide hole. When you tried both ABS
&
amp; PLA, was this with 1.75 filament? Let me know...

Brad

Is the idler the same as version 2?

Yes, the idler for V2 and V3 are the same.

Nice job, Brad!

Thanks... starting to get results!
