A Makerbot Giveaway entry.

The next best thing to Link's Ocarina is Pan's Pipes!

Print one to take to your next bacchanalia!

  1. Slice PanPipes6.stl in skeinforge. A fill of 0.9 is suggested to eliminate air leakage. The other file, PanPipes6Up.stl, is not required; it's just to show the pipes in their playable orientation.

  2. Print PanPipes6.stl.

  3. Once printed, remove the plastic strings inside the pipes with a drill bit [not in a drill!] and sand interior walls smooth with sandpaper.

  4. Play!

Want to change what you hear? Tweak the settings in the PanPipes.scad file using OpenSCAD!
To do so, you will need Catarina Mota's excellent shapes.scad file: http://svn.clifford.at/openscad/trunk/libraries/shapes.scad

Nice print! Didn't think to look for a Wikipedia page. My print has shrill notes too. :-P

Started working on a curved set with modular connectors and adjustable stops for tuning but got busy with other things. Might pick it up again, time permitting.

ow. my ears..

Here's where it fails: "...An inner diameter range between 1/7 and 1/14 of the length (TL) is acceptable." (wiki on Pan Fultes)
the first three will work, but the last three pipes are just not usable.
