A brilliant idea, and a great excuse for me to switch to black plastic!
Wow, awesome print! What 3D printer did you use?

There are 2 versions of this model. One is the whole ship, the other version is cut into 2 parts so it can be printed on a Makerbot/RepRap without support structure. The parts have to be glued together after printing.

Any chance you would upload a .step or whatever your source files are? I'd like to make some edits but the .stl files are troublesome to work with.

I should have the blender file lying around somewhere. But it's basically the same as the stl...

Oh well. Thanks for responding.

This worked really well! Great job!

I think I should've turned on the 'tower' options in Skeinforge to avoid some strings I was getting. Has anyone out there used it?

this is beautiful, but you realize lucas is going to pounce when he finds out about this

Well, I hope it'll be OK. The web is full of Star Wars 3D models. This is just another one with the difference that it is 3D printable. And of course I don't make money from this...

Printed nicely! Some 3 mm holes to use as locating pins with pieces of filament would make the gluing easier, but it still worked pretty well. Thanks!

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5549 is what you're looking for. I made one and the holes helped a lot with final fitting!

Awesome! How did I miss this when it first came out? Going to try and print one in black.
