Replicator's FAN cover (Replicatorの出力ヘッドファンの風防) by nameless911 Oct 19, 2012

Description

Makerbot Replicator’s print head cover for more accurate print. Stop cooling printing model by print head cooling fan, and make printing better.

updated@2012/10/23 pintokitkat made PDF version. Thank you pintokitkat!

Here's thermo movie of Replicator without head cover.

(3sec per frame, 20x speed playing)

Following this video, Replicator's head's cooling fan cools printing models too. Printing model's temperature should be high as stage's, but cooling fan’s exhaust is blowing to printing model. And model temperature get too low to print, and the model distorted.

Here's some picture of distorted model.

This cover stops blowing to model from the cooling fan, and make exhaust to upper.
Here's thermo video of cover attached Replicator.

(3sec per frame, 20x speed playing)

The printing model’s temperature is not so low as without cover's.
And here's some photo of printed models with cover.

it's not distorted!

youtube.com/watch?v=y96ulMCkNMM

I am not sure to understand. The goal of cooling is to cool what exactly? I though the printed layers. Or should the colling be applied only to the printing spot?

Thank you for PDF version. I added PDF version to my post. If there's any problem, please te|| me.

I uploaded a photo of the one I made.  As you can see, it has its wings held curved upwards with some clear tape, so it all looks a right bodge, but it works a treat.

http://db.tt/TP3uTfWJ
以上! db.tt/VabWFXJ7

Send me your email address to pintokitkat at gmail.com and I'll send you a pdf I made for you to post.

I've made a shield and attached it to the replicator and am about to print something I know will lift.  I'll be back wit the results later.

It printed almost perfectly - just a very tiny amount of lift at the corners, but without the fan cover it would have been useless.

So, for two minutes work with a piece of cardboard this is one excellent piece of work.

Can you post the studio file as a pdf?

Sorry, I don't know how to export as PDF on SilhouetteStudio. If you know how, could you tell me how?
