Description

The race is on! This is an exciting election, and we're running an unofficial poll here on Thingiverse. Download these and we'll keep track of who has the leading edge. If you're able to vote in the US, make a miniature of your favorite candidate and bring him into the voting booth with you. If you're a Thingiverse user outside the US, your download counts, too!

These Obama + Romney Busts are currently available in the MakerBot Store in New York City.

Designer's Note:
To design this portrait of Mitt Romney, I started with a base mesh built in Maya and worked off of several good reference images. There are actually many "human" base meshes out there for free download. I sculpted this mini-bust in Zbrush 4 R4. That program's new "grid" option is a useful way to build orthographic image planes.

Mitt Romney was created by Jason.

Instructions

The cone underneath the chin is a built-in support, to keep the layers from sagging during printing. Simply twist it off afterwards, and if there is a small white spot, it can be removed with a heat gun.

what about a Ron Paul?

This one should be printed in white ;)

I think it should be printed in multiple colors because we can't pin down Romney on anything.

This one looks more like Barack Obama than the Barack Obama one does :P

haha :D he looks like jeff bridges!

I love the "Designer's Note" above it's for the wrong model.

Finally Chia Mitt to go with my Chia-Obama. You think Chia will grow on a PLA print? :-) How about a "bald" head version with Chia-trax made on?
