Description

The reason this thing is called "a rather strange box" is because the shape of it was so strange that I couldn't even put words on it.

updates
mk II: Easier to put together, no star on top.
mk III: Even easier to put together, thinner walls.

Other boxes:
The X-box thingiverse.com/thing:31716
Round box: thingiverse.com/thing:31641

I increased the scale... I think I will call mine The Torture Box... because it REALLY bites your hands when you open it!

nice :D can you upload a pic?

That is the coolest thing ever! :D it's almost psychedelic :D

What software do you use to model these?

For this and the X-box i just used sketchup, while I don't need any complicated shapes :) When it comes to other things I prefer autodesk inventor :)

Why list this with a non-derivative license? Afraid of unsightly mash-ups?

Strange that there is still an "I made a Derivative" button. Shouldn't it not have that if the license prohibits them?

Well. My philosophy is that consistent design is good design :)

There are several inverted faces. I was wondering is the lid supposed to look like your print, solid with a single thin line to hold it in the matching groove on the lower piece, or like it looks on the Thingiview, a hollow lid with a groove on the edge of the hollow bit?

I've just finished the mk. III, it has thinner walls and is easier putting together. Printing it in about 2.5 hours and then upload a pic with it :)

I've fixed it so it is easier to put together, even in small prints. you can read about the other changes in the description. Maybe you can print one and upload it as a "made one"? :)

I'm also working on a version with thinner walls :)

it's supposed to be like that yes :) but I'm currently working of a better version, right now if you make a small one like I did, it can be a little tricky to close :)
