Summary

This is a 3D Animal cell design by my 11 year old son for his school project. The cell is designed to be printed in different colours and then assembled.

Instructions

1) Calibrate your printer for dimensions
2) Make your own mods for extra marks
3) Print STL's in various colours

1 - Bottom 01
1 - Insert 01
1 - Insert 02
1 - Nucleus 01
4 - Small Colour Plate 01
1 - Large Colour Plate 01
4) Assemble cell, we used hot melt. (Probably not necessary to glue this)
5) Assemble base with coloured plates behind names to match and glue in place
6) Place cell into base plate and glue into position
7) Get 10 out of 10

Notes

A blank base plate is included to allow alternate languages to be supported. Don't make text too small or it will fill in when being printed.

Design For Manufacture (DFM)

Assumes 0.50 mm nozzle with 0.60 mm wall thickness and 0.30 mm layer height.
The half sphere nucleus has additional material included to enable the top (relative to intended print surface) of the sphere to print nicely
The design is of course based around the manufacturing technique:
Multiple material colours
Assembly clearances ~ 0.2 mm
Tapers on cell internal parts to allow neat positioning in the sphere
