Image 2 stl
Description
Image2stl,is a software that allows the creation of 3D object from a 2D base (jpg or png). Associating the colors to values extrusion, the program detects differences in color level to translate the 2D to 3D. Thus, an image composed of a gradient from black to white gradient will create a volume.

This is great! Are you likely to release the source code?
This appears to be a processing sketch - should be easy to create windows and linux versions, and I'm sure others would be more than happy to do that for you if you do choose to release the sketch itself.
