Description

A Christmas Ornament designed with stacked Schwartz Math Surfaces in high density grid.

This sponge ball has different geometric cavities with different alignments so that it creates this visual effect when it spins on a wire on your tree:

Size: 100x100x100mm
Thickness: 5mm

(Note: if you resize it less than its current size you loose the surface details - unless you're using high res 3D Printers such as SLA,SLS etc)

I can't seem to get this to slice I'm using slic3r V0.97 and it runs for about 5 minutes then I get slic3r has stopped working and it closes.  It happens during infilling layers...   Does anyone have any suggestions on how to generate a Gcode for this?

Try turning the number of cores down in Print Settings -> Advanced. I turned them all the way down to 1 for prints like this.

going to try this in glow in the dark blue PLA , hopefully with slower settings i can get it to work..... yours look awesome from the pics

drew

Any recommendations on print settings?

It's a tough one .. and makes a huuuuuge gcode file. I'm afraid I may have to put it on a raft with support and/or slow it way down ..

This design has inspired me to create a version that will
spell out different messages as they spin.
thanks for the model, and the inspiration!
