There are a couple of issues with this model (I've printed a few batarangs out already from a similar model). A pic is here: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-XT_lPbrg5PY/UElHQWQ7KSI/AAAAAAAAFYQ/dDsY99aXoVE/s640/_MG_3700.JPGhttps://lh6.googleusercontent....

This model has WAY to many polys. There's no need for that many on a model like this. 17 megs to too big. Perhaps this can be run through the Blendor 'Decimate' modifier.

Also, if you want to print it on a reprap (or other extrusion based system) you would be much better off editing the mesh so that the bottom is flat. Remove the blade bevel and level the centre ring.

Hope that helps!

i have already printed this out and there has been no issues the bottom of the blade is flat its not mirrored and as for the polly count i applyed a subsurf modifier and exported it ther is  under 4000 pollys and makerware handled it fine.

I'm curious to know is this this actually works as a functional boomerang, or if its purely ornamental.

i highly doubt this will work as a functional batarang. I ordered my replicator 2 from reprap a while ago and its coming tommorow so i hant had the chance to print it off yet
