Thanks to Brian Enigma who posted the OpenSCAD File to his Mario Questionbox (http://netninja.com/fun/mariobox/). I was able to modify it and add a thin filling for the questionmark.

Size is 10x10x10cm

Put a LED light into it and close the lamp with the top cover.
I used a 9V battery block with a handfull of LEDs.

1) Print the box
2) Fetch coffee (Printed on the Ultimaker with 0.2mm layer thickness in 5.30h)
3) Print the cover
4) Put some light source in it (e.g. LEDs, fireflies)
5) Close up

If you use PLA, you may need to print it on a heated bed to avoid warpage.

Being a little bit of a newbie, I may be asking some obvious questions... I can print this on a communal printer, but we only can reserve it for 2 hours at a time. If I shrink the design to 40%, it will print in 2 hours. Will this negatively affect the walls, the base or anything else?

Duration preview from cura will not be accurate, so I wouldn't rely on that, if it is really a hard 2h slot.
I'm not sure if there will be a problem with the marks, since they are already really thin. Usually the printers fallback to the thinest modus, so this should work.

Wonderful! I was going to modify the original, but this was already exactly the size I needed; and the lid fits perfectly! Any chance you could post up your open scad files too? I plan to put an on/off switch on the lid. I just drilled a hole in the one I already made, but it would be a lot nicer if I could just design one in. (Same with some binding posts I want to put in the bottom of the box)

No problem, file for the cube is uploaded. I'm missing the box cover file, but should be no problem to make one by yourself by just using openscads difference(). If you are having problems with that, just tell me, I will create one again.
