I really want to be able to print the wheels inluding the tires for my RC car. Now, i can´t print rubber and i realise that a tire printed in ABS won´t have much success on the street outside my home unless maybe for drifting?

But what if i did something like on this thing: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:37131 only with a design that would be smaller and better suited for gravel and sand? Should work right?

So i just decided to print the wheels just to get a feel for if maybe it would work... just for fun as always ;-)

Its designed to be printed using dualstrusion.

Can this put on to an off road truggy

Same question.. does this fit the openrc offroad truggy? ...and is it the same diameter and width?

Thanks a bunch to Barspin's for awesome work that allows me to print most of the RC car I always wanted but didn't wanna spend hundreds on!

Has anyone tried this with Ninjaflex or filaflex for the tyre?

What about a couple of o-rings around the wheel? You could place the ring between the 'nubs' of the current design, so without the o-ring, the wheel would be good on sand/gravel and with the o-ring the wheel would work on roads?

is there a site to download the chassis and all the other parts i have only found the open rc 1:10 wheels. also is there a recommendation on parts?

The parts is not available (yet). barspin has been saying this a couple of times - Follow him instead, then you'll gen notified when new parts become available ;)

Looking at your street tire design above, maybe you could simply widen the channels a bit and use that as a guide for a quick pass with a hot glue gun. Not sure how symmetric the wheel would be in the end though. Might need to apply some and then roll it on a surface lightly to mash down any lumps.

Have you ever heard of Sugru? Perhaps you could use it to mould the tires… I know that some people have had success casting things from 3D Printed molds with it.

No, but i checked the website... Seems easy enough to try though. I wonder if it will fill the detailed stuff...

Cool stuff your openrc project! Another take on wheel fabrication could be making molds for casting wheels. Something like a cut through: ((|))
| = center. The void between ((, would be were the material goes. Aught to be simple to print as its a one part mold, cheap system I suppose/guess as well both in filament consumption and leaves plenty of room for experimentation with whatever castable material one can get ones hands on.

You could start fiddling with some silicone from a hardware store. I saw someone mentioned sugru, which you an make a ghetto version of silicone and some starch/flour. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Make-Your-Own-Sugru-Substitute/http://www.instructables.com/i...

Of course, you could test with some other materials mixed the starch.

I know for sure that people have been making their own moulds for RC-tires, and then cast tires from some kind of "home-improvement" coulking. Can't provide a link, sorry.

Anyway, I've been thinking that it might be possible to print a mould and then use some rubber/silicone/whatever to cast a tire. When I have more time...

Looks cool! This is definitely an interresting project! Could you perhaps use a rubber dip coating on the printed wheel? Guess that it may be hard to get an even distribution though. Just a thought, I never tried anything like that myself :)

Don´t know but that´s a really cool idea! Might have to try it just for the sake of it!  =)
