Wade Extruder Gear Concept

Description

This is a conceptual design illustrating an idea I had to create a drop in replacement large gear for existing wade extruder. The teeth are internal to make the overall area taken up by the driven gear and the pinion gear as small as possible.

Unfortunately, I don't think the teeth are quite right, and I don't think this will fit on a wade extruder using any of the existing chassis mounts.

I am hoping someone else might take this idea forward if there is any way the issues can be solved.

Instructions

In theory you bolt the mount part to the gear part using M4x16 Sckt Cap screws and Nuts.

what does the wade gear-2.0 mount.stl attach and how?

This is just a concept really, in theory you bolt the mount part to the gear part using M4x16 Sckt Cap screws and Nuts, then you would be able to attach the whole assembly to a modified Wade/Adrian style Geared extruder. See more of my ideas here: http://www.gilesbathgate.com/2...

I hadn't thought of this, instead I was having a hard time figuring out the tooth dimensions of the Wade gears.
Glad to see someone managed to work it out and have a larger gear ratio.

i think it is a good idea, and well worth a try, i am working with an Adrean extruder witch is very close to the wade one, but a little different in the layout, but i like it so far. but i do think this is a very good way to get a better gear ratio in the same amount of space. 8-)

Hm, with a horizontal mount plate like http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... and a few other changes so it hangs off the side this might work.

Sweet! My gear ratio was limited by how much space there was for the entire assembly; I looked at pairing up some rome gears, but it got a bit messy. Think I'll have to try that one!
