Yep, ABS or Nylon would work as well, we are making all of the plastic bits from POM, and it is a suitable material for this. I'm not sure that a printed version would be able to hold up, the stress along the layer lines would likely fail and cause delamination sooner than later.

As long as the yield strength of the material is not exceeded, plastic springs have a long life.

I'm wondering the same as laird. I watched the MakiBox video and immediately thought that a loss of tension from the "Wheel Spring" thing would be a problem over the long term.

Very clever using the wheel as the compression, instead of a spring. How well do you think it will hold up in use?

I'm wondering the same. Super elegant solution, but how long will it last? I love the 45 degree twist to make this happen. Wow.
