tosjduenfs' Cable Chain With Rounded Edges

tosjduenfs' Cable Chain With Rounded Edges by QuentinT Jan 3, 2013

Description

This is the same part as tosjduenfs' cable chain, but with added fillets that make printing easier. The original thing had hard corners, so when I printed at high speed on my machine, the parts did not line up due to backlash. The new rounded edges should reduce the oversized corners because the printer can smoothly accelerate around corners.

The cable channel is 1/2" wide and 3/8" tall. Each link adds 1/2" to the chain. The folding diameter is about 1 7/8"

They look good but are not very strong. I printed 10 with PLA and most broke during assembly.
The following may work better with stiffer materials thingiverse.com/thing:11978

Instructions

Print as many links as you need to make the desired chain lengths. Turn each link 90 degrees to the previous link, so any error in your printer will be canceled out, and your chain will remain straight.

I printed mine at .25mm layer height, 2 walls, and .25 fill

I included both the stl and solidworks files in case you wanted to make your own modifications
