update 2
V2 adjustable added (untested or printed)
i have strengthened the adjustable mount and shortened it. (saves on print)
i have shortened the backing plate by 10 mm.
with hindsight, i would of used the fixed mount with the GoPro arm style mount, that would make it more adjustable in the field.
i never managed to break any of the fixed style mount, even with some heavy abuse.
even when not in use i left it attached to my poles and it remained intact

update 1
after use in the field - the "adjustable mount" centre tab seems very brittle when in use
i broke two of these tabs off, in the cold, with very little effort. the fixed interfaces worked really well and the backing plates prevented the camera rotating on the pole.
i will have a look at the adjustable mount and see if i can add some strength to the middle tab base, but its already at its max width, i will lengthen its base maybe.
make sure to print at %100 to give yourself a fighting chance of it not breaking
i think a couple of mine were at %75 infil.
also check out the new *rubber* PLA from ultimaker that has a lot of bend qualities, i think that maybe the way to go with these mounts

i printed at 0.2 layer height
%100 infil - just because its untested for strength in the cold and i need something to last.
these are untested, but i cant see why they won`t work, i printed a few variations to allow me to test them insitu as i am off on a short notice ski trip. :-)
i used some heavy gauge tape on the pole as a base, then the mounts are cable tied to the pole, with or without the backing plates (the idea of the backing plate and the tape, is to try get more grip on the pole) the holes in the mount are to suit a 2.5mmx200Lg cable tie.

the fastener is in two parts and are just glued, they are based upon an M5x30 Lg bolt and M5 nut, the heads are about 3.5mm thick

see my youtube video for more info.

i printed the fixed" mounts with exterior support, the others had no support.
the S* and the L* denote the larger and smaller diameter cuts end, since they are slighlty tapered

Happy piste-ing!

could I use M5 50mm bolts?

intensewalkera on Apr 23, 2013 said:

yes 50mm are fine, it just means the end will pertrude a little more out the end, but you could saw that off anyway if you find it too unsightly.
i keep meaning to print these off using the Flexible pla, to compare how they are. i just havent got round to it yet.

Your design seems to have absolutely no allowance.
The gaps are exactly as wide as the matching parts of the underwater-housing and thus DONT FIT.
The gaps would have to be 0.1-0.2mm WIDER then they have to be for this to work out.

intensewalkera on Jan 29, 2013 said:

obviously they do "work" otherwise i wouldn`t have a photo of them ALL insitu.
we all use different printers, pla, abs, temperatures, hotbeds, software, need i go on. there is a 0.2mm gap, to match up with my layer height of 0.2mm thus THEY DO FIT. The last few times i have provided the original files, they were used in an inappropriate way. ie passed off as their own work. so i dont bother now. i look forward to seeing your BETTER ONE that way there is no need to fix mine

Please also publish the original design files. Not just the STL export.
