Description

This is my take on an extruder controller mount for the MK5. It mounts your extruder controller to the right of the plastruder arch support. Originally I had mounted the controller in this position using zip ties through the bottom holes in the board, but this was a quick and dirty way in order to get the bot running. The mount is secured using the existing unused hole in the Z-stage and requires no modifications to the plastruder mount.

STL and SolidWorks 2010 model files included.

Instructions

Print and secure your extruder controller using two M3x15 bolts and two M3 nuts. Place an M5 nut in the captive hole in the mount. Secure the mount to the Z-stage using an M5x14 bolt.

Great, but its a bit tight against the MK5. Could just be me and my w/t too small. I had to use a hex key to tighten the bolt to pull the mount down to the Z stage.

Hmm. I printed this out, but my copy touches the plywood Z guides and holds the circuit board far enough out on the Z stage to impact the top of my Cupcake on tall prints. I'm gonna experiment with fixing this in the model, maybes post my results. I can't explain why your picture seems to have the dimensions correct.

this was the first thing i printed with my mk5, and amazingly it was successful!

I wound up putting this on the left side of the extruder, so it wouldn't be in the vicinity of the MK5 delrin plunger thumbscrew. It didn't fit there quite like it does on the right side, but I'm very happy with it nonetheless.

Thanks a lot !

I've printed it a few minutes ago, that's very useful !

Thanks a lot for this, no more failed prints caused by the Z stage getting stuck on cables jamming up the belt!

Thank you! This is the first thing I'm going to print as soon as my MakerBot arrives! Its very well designed and useful. Nice Job! 8-)

Beautiful! I had been agonizing over what to do with the EC and my mess of wires.
