Description

This is a small printable Makerbot Wrench/Spanner that I designed in Blender. I do not yet own a 3D printer so I don't know how well it will print, it seemed to slice fine in Skeinforge despite not being manifold. I saw Oliva's blog post on the MakerBot blog about the Charm Challenge for Maker Faire so I thought this would be a nice and easy thing to print.

Instructions

The GCODE file was produced with the latest version of ReplicatorG (whichever Skeinforge version it ships with) using the default ABS profile. I just wanted to see if it would slice, you are probably better off slicing it yourself though.

It isn't exactly manifold on the makerbot text... It appears the text is intersecting the wrench and making a hollow layer. But it still prints great. :)

Also makes an appearance at 3.00 in this BBC World News America video: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/pro...

You can see it being printed at the Maker Faire: http://blip.tv/file/4195633

I tried printing it.

Went great until it got to the "MakerBot" text on top. Ended up depositing a lot of excess plastic.

But that may just be me as I still have a bit of fine tuning to do.

It could just be that you need to print from an SD card, due to the how many thousands of commands that make that part print.
